"Going Fourth"

With Pope John XXIII Assembly

(click here to access Pope John XXIII Assembly website)

Pope Pius XII Council #4422 is proud to be a member of Pope John XXIII Assembly, which upholds the values of the Fourth Degree,  Patriotism. They exemplify Patriotism in many ways, such as Decorating the graves of military personnel at Pinelawn National Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island. They're also sponsoring a Scholarship essay contest for High School students in 2002.  Their a "Fly the Flag" program, acknowledging a Brother Knight who flies the flag faithfully, is getting acclaim at the state level.

The most visible arm of the Knights of Columbus is our Honor Guard of the Fourth Degree (some of the Pope John XXIII Assembly members are shown at the very top of the page). The Honor Guard proudly represent the Knights of Columbus at countless parades, funerals of Brother Knights, and special masses, including the Annual Pro-Life Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Annual Bishop's Mass, and the Annual Mass at Our Lady of the Island Shrine in Eastport, Long Island.

Pope Pius XII Council members have proudly served in the Honor Guard. Pope Pius XII Council urges all Fourth Degree Sir Knights to consider joining the Honor Guard and also encourages all Knights who haven't already done so, to advance to the Fourth Degree. Check with your Council for the assembly nearest you!

Fly the Flag Program

Our Assembly not only salutes the American flag, we salute those who fly the flag. The important patriotic tradition of flying the flag seldom gets the recognition that it deserves.  The objective of the Assembly ‘Fly the Flag’ program is to honor one individual or business within each of our 16 council areas for flying the American flag on a regular basis in accordance with the rules of flag etiquette. The honoree is thanked for flying the flag by the Assembly ‘Fly the Flag’ committee and presented with a framed certificate in front of his neighbors at a local council meeting.  A picture of the event is submitted to local newspapers for additional recognition.  The honoree is selected by the local council Fourth Degree chairman and/or the council Grand Knight.

If you're a Third Degree member in mid-Nassau County, why not consider "going Fourth?" If you're Third Degree in good standing, and will have been in the Order one year or longer, you're eligible. The Exemplification is held on a Sunday in October at the Melville Marriott.  For Pope John XXIII Assembly members the fee is $100. Check       with your Fourth Degree Chairman. Brother Knights from other areas should check with their Council, Fourth Degree Chairman, or Grand Knight for dates and fees.
